1. Children First

The “Children First” project focuses primarily on supporting children without legal status in Geneva, as well as their families. These young people have not chosen their family situation, and it is vital that they are not discriminated against because of their parents’ migration history.

CCSI intervenes in various areas such as education, food, health and leisure activities, with the aim of ensuring that these children are treated first and foremost as children, without any form of discrimination. The association draws on its expertise in this field, as well as its in-depth knowledge of the network and public institutions.

2. Support services

  • Information and assistance : The CCSI has set up a reception and information desk to answer any questions about schooling, health, activities, etc. The desk is open every day of the week, and anyone is welcome without having to make an appointment in advance. These drop-in centers are open every day of the week, and anyone is welcome to drop in without having to make an appointment in advance. Depending on needs, the reception and information desk will direct individuals to one of the three individual assistance consultations offered by the CCSI, or direct them to other institutions and associations in the canton that could meet their specific needs.
  • Childhood, education and Health : The “Childhood, education and health” consultation service welcomes all families living in the canton of Geneva who have children without legal status or awaiting permits, whether these children were born in Geneva or arrived in Switzerland before the age of 12.
  • Residency and work permit : The “Permis de séjour” (residence permit) consultation service welcomes all persons residing in the canton of Geneva who wish to obtain information on the possibilities of obtaining and renewing a residence permit (excluding asylum procedures), as well as on the steps to follow for these applications.

In addition to individual counseling, the CCSI is also involved in collective efforts to improve the situation of migrants in the medium and long term. In collaboration with other associations, we are actively involved in ensuring that the rights of migrants are respected, and in promoting an open, caring society.
