Le Grand Atelier - Formation
Le Grand Atelier, founded in 2015, is a non-profit organization recognized for its public utility. Committed to promoting material resilience, Le Grand Atelier follows the “Do It Together” philosophy. The association offers a workspace for individuals seeking authenticity in the use and repair of everyday objects.
The association regularly offers small training sessions to help people become autonomous in wood shaping. These sessions are not carpentry courses but allow a diverse audience to familiarize themselves with the workshop environment and certain machines (miter saw, band saw, portable circular saw).

1. Workshops
At Le Grand Atelier, project creation is a true learning experience. Volunteers share their practical knowledge, helping everyone to develop their skills in fabrication and repair. The skill calendar allows individuals to attend when specific expertise is available. Regular small training sessions initiate autonomy in woodworking, familiarizing participants with the workshop and certain machines (miter saw, band saw, portable circular saw), paving the way for greater independence.
2. Objectives
The activities of Le Grand Atelier aim to optimize current operations and develop new initiatives through financial support. The objectives include:
- Welcoming the public to the premises through open sessions.
- Creating a social space for exchange, inspiration, and confidence-building through creation.
- Hosting recurring DIY discovery workshops for schools, public and private organizations, and associations.
- Offering training on techniques and equipment for the general public, artists, and craftsmen.
- Supporting the social fabric of Geneva by providing tools for material resilience (repair, improvement of work tools).
- Providing expensive equipment for artists, cultural actors, and other professionals.
- Welcoming populations in reintegration programs.
